Free Webinar on Title IX
Date of Event: 2/5/2009
Women and girls continue to make tremendous contributions to sports, and they in turn reap great academic, economic, social and health benefits. Yet more than thirty-five years after Title IX was enacted, too many schools still are not providing their female students with equal athletic opportunities.
So what can you do to help? As lawyers, law students, educators and advocates, you can become a Title IX resource in your community by participating in a free webinar. In honor of National Girls and Women in Sports Day and as a follow-up to the release of Breaking Down Barriers: A Legal Guide to Title IX and Athletic Opportunities, the National Women's Law Center and the law firm DLA Piper are offering a webinar to teach you the basics:
· How schools can comply with Title IX
· Tips for recognizing Title IX violations
· Step-by-step guidance for addressing Title IX violations in the courts
Register today! This online workshop is free to participants, but registration is required: http://action.nwlc.org/breakingdownbarriers
