All female law students, lawyers and friends are invited to play in the Get in the Game LA Lady Lawyers Fall Basketball Tournament on Saturday, October 13th. The event is being co-hosted by the UCLA Women's Law Journal, and games will be played at UCLA's SAC Gym from 9:00am – 1:30pm.

ALL abilities are welcome -- the goal is to get us Lady Lawyers and friends out on the courts to have a good time. The cost is $20 for current law students and $30 for lawyers and friends. Law firms are also invited to sponsor teams.

What is this all about?

The first "Get in the Game" Lady Lawyers Basketball Tournament, held at Georgetown University in April 2006, was a remarkable success that soon spurred weekly "Lady Lawyers Leagues" and tournaments in Washington DC, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento. Building on the enthusiasm of the over 450 Lady Lawyers who have been involved in the first year, Get in the Game is a volunteer-led, nonprofit organization (501(c)(3) approval pending) with a focus on providing athletic, networking and mentoring activities for lady lawyers and law students throughout the country, with net proceeds going to support charitable organizations focused on assisting underserved girls and women.

What times will the games be?

Registration will begin at 9:00am with the first game tipping off at 9:30am. Games are tentatively scheduled to run until 1:30pm.



How much does it cost to participate?

The cost for the tournament is $20 for law students, $30 for lawyers and friends. Firms can also sponsor teams (email us for more info).



I haven't played in years / I haven't played ever. What will the level of competition be like? ALL levels of experience are welcome. We will work to create balanced teams, and there's no better way to learn than to just get in the game!



We don't have enough players for a team from our law school or law firm.

No problem! We are going to team up interested individuals with students from their alma mater and other lady lawyers, so there is no need to have a pre-formed team.



We have an entire team of ladies just from our law school or law firm… can we play together? Absolutely. That's great that you have so much interest! We may have to add a few ladies to your team, but we will do our best to accommodate your group. Also, each team can have up to three women who are not "women in the law" (e.g., lawyers, law students, law alumnae, legal staff/paralegals, law professors, etc.).
